Default 94-96...12V Help....

Okay so I have a 96 extra cab 8feet bed 12V I got cold air and a full 4" turbo back. not many mods truck is pretty stock. What I want to figure out is... My Good friend just got himself a 94 12V standard cab 8foot bed. He bought it being told the truck is stock no mods. Other than a shift kit Both trucks Auto tran. after he took me for a ride in his it made mine feel like a SLUG!! and I got the intake and full 4" this truck just pulls like a beast. there is no lag in his? mine once I hit OD and step on it will move but his felt like it was flying!! No big burst of black smoke on his I was thinking fuel plate but wont that make it smoke? would a shift kit make that big of a change? or does it sound like something is wrong with my tranny?

sliding the stock plate forward a small amount and turning the star wheel will make a night and day diff. with very little smoke. Like just haze kind of smoke. Shift kits are noticeable for sure especially with a good converter.

Would that be a bosch thing? Maybe they set it that way on the stand for correct calibration? Would be interesting to know.

Will a shift kit help hold more power? stock Trannys are weak? is there a way to tell with out digging into it and see if someone has messed around the area of the fuel plate? I have been wanting to slide my fuel plate forever but I do not want to hurt my tranny there not cheap to replace. But if I knew I could get away with a little slide and not put to much load on my tranny I am game... Now what would be a good shift kit I have heard of DTT I think but if there are others not crazy money help me out. I want my truck to pick up and go.

look at the afc. stock should have three bolts and a tamper proof almost rivet looking bolt in the forward bolt hole closest to the engine. If it has a slash cut in it or a generic bolt installed somebody has been in there. A little bit wont hurt as long as youre not constantly beating on it. Shift kit will help a lot but, id also get a good converter. Id do those things wether you left the plate alone or not. Transgo shift kit, they work great.

We are a Master distributor for DTT and stock their parts so you do not have to wait for shipping from Canada.

A gm solenoid conversion, new transducer from the dealership and billet accumilator servo will all make improvements. you can usually get a low stall billet converter from your local shop for about $500-700. if you can't get one for that we can ship them.
