hello there ladies and gentlemen

im very new to the diesels and looking for knowledge. i am a new owner to a 1994 cummins 2500 hd 4x4 with 250k. i just had to replace the t/case replaced it with a stock 241d

i have some issues with the truck. i have problems building boost lately and when driving down the road under power it revs out but doesnt go anywhere i have a boost gauge and a egt gauge hooked up boost gauge reads but doesnt go over 15 psi wide open i have 35's on it with a 6 inch exhaust and as far as i know the rest is stock

if anyone wants to help me gain knowledge and help me troubleshoot this truck would be much apprieciated thanks

check all of your inter cooler boots sometimes they loosen up and you lose all your boost.

Also im kind of confused as to why you have a 6 inch exhaust it doesn't need to be that big 4inch exhaust is rated for trucks under 600 hp 5inch is rated for trucks with up to 1500 hp Im not sure what problems this would cause but I know it isn't necessary I've never even heard of 6inch exhaust on a light duty truck.

I pulled the intercooler and checked for leaks and everything is tight no leaks still no power

What else should I check?

fuel pressure could be a factor. im not sure if a worn turbo could cause symptoms like that or not

any excessive black smoke? I agree with olsmokey regarding fuel pressure. more fuel builds more boost. Less fuel = less boost= less power. But with a boost leak, that usually means less or no power and lots of black smoke.

is the truck a manual or automatic? you say it revs up but doesnt go anywhere and wont make over 15 psi. does it feel like the tranny is slipping or the clutch depending? if you give it full throttle and the trans slips and revs up an engine with no real load will make no real boost.

if your boost line between your turbo and afc is broken or leaking power will be way down, ask me how i know

the 6 inch wont really hurt anything. might loose a little bottom end power but its all a matter of opinion after 4 inch, i think 5 sounds better that 4 but that's my opinion, bully dog makes a 6 inch but it is overpriced and i don't see the point
