bad oil leak

Default bad oil leak

hello im 96 dodge 2500 diesel is leaking oil pretty bad. I got underneath and power washed it to try and see where it was coming from. I was thinking it was the oil pan at first but it is coming from up higher but i cant tell from where.Any ideas please.

Front of the engine? Rear? Driver's side? Passenger's side?

drivers side of the engine just below the head gasket about midway down the block. there are some bolts that run down the blocks may holding some plates down.i dont know what those are

Sounds like the tappet cover

If it is the tappet cover, IP has to come off and truck retimed. The cummins part number for the gasket is 3284623.

thanks for the info. does the cover on the front of the motor have to come off????
