Default Fuel additive?

Hey guys I'm just wondering what your opinion is on using fuel additives? I live in BC, Canada and we have ultra low sulfur diesel here, I'm just wondering if using an additive is important or not? Also if it is what would you recommend using?

Thanks for the help and info.

I ran an entire bottle of Howe's "Diesel Treat" through however many tanks it took to use it up. It promised all sorts of benefits, including a guaranteed 3% (IIRC) improvement in mpg. My 12V ran smoother and got better mileage without it. Seriously, my mileage went down at least 2mpg while I used it, and started running smoother as soon as I stopped.

I have used Howes since I got my 98 three years ago, just removed my tank last week and sumped it. My fuel tank was spotless inside. That is all I know.

All of our triaxle and tractor drivers swear by it, and it's the only one on the shelf at my local heavy truck garage. It's supposed to be the *****. My company buys it in bulk for our drivers, and my shop foreman gave me the bottle and said I should be using it because it's the best. I figured it was free so I had nothing to lose, but the alleged benefits didn't outweigh the tangible drawbacks I found. I seem to be the only one in the world with a bad experience with the stuff though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I run AFT in my fuel ..... no one is ever gonna dip a pick up truck tank .... unless its an easy tank to get into.... but ive never had anything but better mpg's just using ATF .... I use anty kind of DEX3 ... no type f or synthetic fluids .... I also occasionally use a bit of good "DRY" used oil .... make sure no water or coolant in it.... runs great

I use ATF about once every 3 mths and I also run F-Bomb And F-bomb Hellfire every so often..The F-Bomb increases the Cetain levels which lubricates and it also helps keep injectors clean..Have had great luck with those 3 products.
