lift pump
I have a 1998 12v 5 speed with 0 fuel plate intake exhaust and star wheel in a tad. Wide open after going through couple gears just gets gutless like lift pump can keep up. Some people say they don't do intank pump till 04, and also if I pump starter I should be able to here it run. I can and don't see it. When I go to part store and ask for 98 replacement pump its a tank one. And I look for a 97 one and its mechanical but don't know where it would be, like my old dodge it was mid block on back driver side any info? I don't wanna burn up injection pump

I plan on doing air dog eventually but I need replacement now who has done this before the truck was made in the end on 97 supposovly considered 1998

sounds much better than normal. idle is fine but psi generally from a mechanical pump falls off pretty bad at WOT. if those are your readings you have ABSOLUTLY no reason to replace you lift pump. it feels gutless because the injection pump is defuling around 2200rpms and thus you loose all your acceleration and become gutless. install some govoner springs and enjoy.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge yet and ya I can feel defueling but when I'm wide open it like spudders. And won't speed up unless I let off a little then get back into its new rig to me to imma replace it anyway till I get air dog. But how is changing the government spring compared to the VE pump
