bulb plz help. very rough idle an fuel issue.

OK so before I start this is not my truck its. 96 Cummins j just did a head gasket. New injectors 3pc. Manifold bank twin intake arp studs and o ringed head. It idles very rough like there's a came in it almost. In park its at 850 but put it in gear its horrible and drops to 500. It idled like this before and its still doing it. It is jut very rough and doesn't sound very strong. The fuel issue is the pump nd heater. The hose that's suppose togo from the lift pump to the heater into there. The hose comes from the tank to the lift pump? the steel ;line I still at the top of the heater but nothing connected to the other spot someone help before the weekend pleasse.

have you deleted the fuel heater? does it run good when you drive it? is this ONLY a poor idle problem? what is your fuel pressure, any while smoke?

I'm not exactly sure if it was deleted but the hose should still go to that spot right?it just has an open hole on the heater that not plugged off the hose goes from the lift pump to the tank why would it go back to the tank? Could that be sucking air? I'm not sure about the pressure but it does smooth our a bit when u rev it up but in gear its veryyy rough and doesn't take off right before j did all this it had a bad injector and now its all new and runs exactly the same

hard starting? is the fuel heater element still in the assembly? the circular disk with a plug in in it? that is what shorts and allows air to get sucked in.

It actually starts right up even when its very cold . But ya that's still there but what's with the hose? No fuel is comming from that nipple on the fuel heater and I can't feel it sucking air by j guess that doesn't mean it not I guess
