OK let me elaborate. I bought this 96 12 valve. It's an automatic and I was told it has a moderately built transmission in it. It's suppose to have a Goerend VB and TC. Is their anyway to tell for sure? But my problem is that sometimes when it goes to shift it'll act like its slipping in between gears almost. It happens more frequently when I'm on a hill and it tries to shift into OD. Any input would be great. Just want to know where to start.

There no way to tell if there realy in there without pulling it appart so Im assuming your truck is trying to shift and while its doing it it its slipping or is it slipping while in gear and it just jumps up the RPMS?

hmm, hopefully rawwilliams shows up because hes the diesel wesel of cummins, but I would make sure you have good terminals on your batteries, and check you fluid, make sure your connection on the tranny are good and no freyed wires thats where I would start, because if your transmission was slipping then the rpms should jump...

Supposedly with a georend torque convertor you can take the inspection plate of botttm of transmission three screws. With the engine off of course. Then take a pry bar or similiar and rotate the ring gear until you find the drain plug and there should be some numbers there, write them down, and call georend and they can probably tell you what you have. I am having sjifting problems with my 97 that i am going to post again later for help. I have talked to georend seem really helpful.

here is some info someone posted to me a while back, I was also having some shifting isues with my trans... try adjusting your tv cable and see how you make out.. from what i understand the cable controls your line pressure for 1-2-3 shifts.. hope it helps let us know!!.. there are also some screw on the v/b that control pressure setings but do the simple stuff first
